Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Msgr. John Kottaram launched a project of Evangelization in the villages of North Madras, where Christianity was not well known. The same spirit led the three legionaries Rev. Sr. Mary Sebastian, Rev. Sr. Arockiamary Dias and Rev. Sr. Victoria Peter who were helping him to opt to live in community and settle themselves permanently in the villages to be more effectively involved in the task of Evangelization. This first community entrusted itself to the protection of Mary, Queen of the Missions. Thus our congregation was born on 26th of July, 1974 with the Charism “TO MAKE CHRIST KNOWN AND LOVED WHEREVER HE IS NOT KNOWN”.
We, the Seva Missionary Sisters of Mary, following in the footsteps of our Founder, feel called to transform human society
